JULY 5, 2005:
MORE OF THE SAME: JOHN FICHTER, CORPORATE PAC PUPPET

Mr. Fichter's second campaign finance report of 2005 is out, and once again it's the same story:
- FICHTER DID NOT RECEIVE A SINGLE CONTRIBUTION FROM ONE OF HIS CONSTITUENTS.
- FICHTER DID NOT EVEN RECEIVE A SINGLE CONTRIBUTION FROM WITHIN HIS DISTRICT.
-Once again, FICHTER RECEIVED MOST OF HIS CONTRIBUTIONS FROM THE CORPORATIONS HE IS SUPPOSED TO BE REGULATING ON THE CONSUMER AFFAIRS COMMITTEE.
Big Energy Corporations. Big Health Insurance Organizations. This time he adds the "Committee For Affordable Housing", which is the Pennsylvania Builders Association lobbying group for major residential housing developers. Does this tell you anything about who Mr. Fichter is serving? Clue- it's not you and me.
Fichter is doing NOTHING for the concerns of the people of this district. Fichter is doing NOTHING to address property taxes. Fichter is doing NOTHING to address affordability of health care. Fichter is doing NOTHING to revitalize our downtown districts and local economies. Fichter is doing NOTHING to reduce suburban sprawl. He just votes the way his contributors tell him to vote, raising phone and cable rates, maintaining high health insurance rates, letting our downtowns decay, letting our open space disappear, and increasing our taxes.
Take a look at Representative Fichter's own web page of news items describing his non-accomplishments. Try to find a single significant issue he has taken the lead on. Sure, he was "present" at the signing of Growing Greener II, but only after dragging his feet on it for a year, and voting against any method of funding it. Sure, he supports buying American flags made in the USA, and reminds us of this or that road map availability. But what has he actually done to make our district and state stronger, cleaner, and better? NOTHING. Last year I asked in a campaign mailing, "What does John Fichter DO in Harrisburg?" He answered with a mailing of his own- which listed a bunch of things other people did, plus a few dollars of pork he managed to bring home at state taxpayer expense. He even highlighted a picture of himself receiving an award- from his own campaign treasurer. He pointed out his seniority in Harrisburg- which has him ranked 56th or so out of the incumbent legislators.
Mr. Fichter: Take the lead and do something positive for our state and for the 70th district. Or resign.
